TECHNOLOGY - RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

The HSC® Premium "product line" of threaded and coupled connections were designed and developed to meet the most rigorous demands of the Oil and Gas Industry.

HSC®'s Technology, Research and Development activities are driven by a dedicated team of highly experienced, international Premium thread specialists who have accumulated many years of hands-on involvement in oilfield tubular design, gauging and production.

HSC®'s sophisticated Finite Element Analysis software (FEA) was developed by this team in conjunction with our internationally recognised leading authority on the subject matter and is unique in the world. Its capabilities are to accurately simulate the highly demanding environment to which Premium connections may be
subjected and still required to achieve and maintain gas-tight sealability (developed from API 5C5 and ISO 13679).

Every stage of HSC®'s FEA programme has been proven by both non-destructive and mechanical testing - with product design modifications where appropriate - resulting in the development of optimum performance products.

At the production stage, all HSC® Premium products are manufactured using state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) threading lathes and in order to ensure the advanced requirements of the products, HSC® have also developed a highly efficient gauging system in addition to the requirements of API 5B.

These tools allow maximum product control through close tolerancing during manufacture. This ensures HSC® products maintain ultimate joint performance through consistency in make-up, elimination of snagging and improved running times.
